I suggest medlib-l for job postings. It’s the listserv run by MLA.

And / or metro.org job postings. It’s my-centered, but I’ve seen ads for other places for sure.

I find there’s an unusual amount of freedom in medical library jobs because the people in the administration are not too sure what you can and can’t do.

Opportunity to be “fresh eyes,” someone who is not familiar with the topic at hand and can offer an outsiders’ point of view.

Interesting. Do you teach them skills so they are independent searchers? Or do they keep coming back to you for at least a bit of coaching on each search?

Are you thinking like Visualdx? Google images — if you pay attention to source, of course.

I don’t know — it’s different for different people I think. Some feel they already know how to search. Some think they can use POC tools. Many don’t have time to devote because patient care is so extensive. Just easier for them to come to me with topics.

I have a job that doesn’t really have requirements. I’ve sort of made it my own. It’s not as good as it sounds sometimes.

I sometimes wonder if everything should just be added online as soon as possible and everyone just have at it — just open it up to comments and suggestions and critique.

I like to show [ti] to limit articles that just have those terms in the title.

And also that you can find articles in Google and copy and paste and use Similar Articles and Cited By to find other articles like that.
