Coming back to life, slowly. Painting rusty chromed parts is 🫠

I knew it would take some time, but I don't even want to count the hours I already spent on this thing...

Actually, the other 6mm was in better shape and is now OK to use. Still have to finish cleaning the accessories.
Even the latch of the small wooden box was rusted out and had to be replaced 😮

I looks pretty, though.

The big one can be a WW Boley, unmarked. Crusty, but still functional. I'll have to decide if it is still worth the time spent cleaning it, removing the flaky nickel plating and the surface rust, and repainting.

One 6mm Lorch starting a new life. I cleaned the base and some levers.

Nice isn't it? The red light and half darkness makes it another world, far from the current madness.

Not sure but I'd say highly unlikely if the watch case is not massive gold.

You can see some Omega dials here with diamonds and 14/18k WG cases, for example:

Special effects only, ihmo. It may be OK on dark/funky objects, like a refinery at dawn, or specific portraits. I personally would not use it for "regular" daytime streetshooting or landscape, I could not make it work.

you could have fun figuring out what this film can be good at 😄

I think I used Fortepan once, just a big bag of bizarre graininess ideed. Blech. But it was before I developed myself.

Lovely hills, it must be nice to hike there.

My chances of finding a correct set jewel were close to zero. So I drilled out the setting, push fitted the bushing, reamed it, push fitted the jewel and ajusted its height.

Now after cleaning and rebuilding, this Longines is upgraded from junk to timekeeper.

After the staff swap, I discovered that a balance jewel was "repaired" previously... a modern flat jewel was just shoved in place of a domed one, flopping around into the destroyed setting. Nice job.

So I searched for a modern domed jewel and a bushing...

This one is not so delicate: big balance on a 19 lignes so the hairspring being blued steel has some strength. On a smaller wristwatch with a modern light balance though, it can be easily deformed indeed.

I got a 50 just after 😅
I love it in 6x6 too.

I also put a roll in the older prewar Automat, that I like a lot. Old uncoated lenses can be nice in some situations. This one is probably a keeper.
