I believe their must be intelligent life out there, because the idea that humans are "it" is just too depressing to consider.

Just like bald-faced lying, race-baiting - from Birtherism to "they're eating the cats and dogs" - has been wildly successful political strategy for Republicans. In the process, the GOP and their media collaborators built an electorate both intellectually and morally adrift.
