I took a bag with me to Greggs, so that I could bring some breakfast and lunch home.
Me at the checkout, with a bag in hand: "Can I have a bag please?"
Them: "That'll be 10p"
Me: "Ok"

I put the bag I brought to the shop in the bag I purchased and went home, hoping no one noticed.
