I wanted to upload a picture of my submission of the collab before I made these posts, but sadly I haven't had any ideas nor too much time to do so. Don't worry, I'm plotting something to post, as well as other ideas.

I haven't used the affinity apps too much aside from adjustments. They can still be on the heavy side when running the apps, which I don't care for (I prefer lightweight ones), and there's bugs that need to be ironed out. Seems all right so far. Have you tried it?

Their development team is very friendly, transparent, and quick to fix issues generally speaking.

Not saying that Rebelle 8 Pro is a terrible program. It’s rather the opposite – it’s fantastic! However, I find the heavy computing resources a turn off. It’s not a software that I can recommend to the average user.

I do like their pastel and charcoal brushes, and I do like how they have a variety of transformation tools.

Watercolor engine is pretty interesting, but at end result matters more than the process. While it’s cool to watch how the pigment moves, I do find it to be just a gimmick and it’s still digital at the end of the day.

It's better than the original NanoPixel for sure.
October 7, 2025 at 6:14 PM
NanoPixel 2 is pretty neat, but the problem is that it only works best if you already have a high resolution artwork and you’re looking into making it bigger for prints. It doesn’t really work when the artwork is low resolution because the artwork ends up being too smooth and filtered.

I would have to play around with the impasto settings to make sure it doesn't look out of place.
October 7, 2025 at 6:14 PM
As much as I also love the impasto effect, I couldn’t really find a place to use it in my pieces. Not to mention that there is currently no way to change the lighting direction so that the impasto will fit within the lighting of the artwork itself.

It uses at least 1.3x more RAM than 7 Pro did. I do like the new Bristle brush system. However, I can use bristles as well without using so much computer resources in Paint Tool SAI 2.
