Saw my humans fighting with water, wasn't sure what was going on, made sure they were all safe, took a few blows, but am OK, very tired now. #waterfight #hotdog

I've just signed Ruby and myself up for the dog mentoring programme, can't wait for her to become a part of our school family! She's popped in for one visit so far and spent some time with one of our lovelies with complex needs, it was pure magic. She's gonna have a huge impact 🥰

Today was one of those days where you realise that being a primary co-head is a truly magical job! This is some of my fab team at our summer fair & colour run. We soaked & threw paint at the kids, then they got their revenge! Our amazing PTA helped us create special memories & raise lots of money! 🥰

Picked these up this week to review alongside my bookworms at home! I really like being able to talk about & recommend books to the kids in school. Last year, I suggested authors/books for our Y6 children to try over the summer in my HT comment on their reports, that I thought they'd enjoy! 🥰

Greece has been a wonderful Easter break. I'm going to miss this beautiful morning run & the rhythm of life we've enjoyed here. Beautiful scenery, delicious food, warm sunshine, lots of reading...

Enjoying a lovely break in Athens. Blown away by my 8 & 10 year old who can recount so much knowledge about Greek history & mythology! Why? Because they read, often, independently & for pleasure. Whatever we do moving forwards, however we adapt the curriculum, let's nurture & prioritise this!

Last night, I had a lovely evening with my eldest watching Animal Farm @nottmplayhouse.bsky.social We went for dinner first & really enjoyed the production. It feels like a few moments ago she was my baby... 🥰

We just made the crazy decision to add further chaos to our house & have put a deposit down on a springer spaniel puppy! 🥰

Just deleted X, hoping I can continue to build my network again over here!

I've been busy reading @charliehacking.bsky.social @domwyse.bsky.social recently, making lots of notes & thinking very deeply! Highly recommend reviewing this if, like me, getting the balance is something you're focused on.

I read this gem in assembly on WBD & I shared a stack of other picture books that highlight the importance of reading the pictures... such rich discussions! I love it when the illustrations are telling an alternative narrative, the humour is right up my street too!

As a mum, I read to my kids everyday (inc. your wonderful books!) & as an HT, I was super proud of all the team yesterday, making WBD so much fun AND everyday for working so hard to keep building in great texts & enriching our children's lives through stories & reading 🥰

Just finished - found it a really helpful guide to evaluate our current practice & journey to date. I'll be using key chapters & building in the discussion questions in staff meetings. It's very accessible & I am sure will impact teacher development & children's progress! ❤️🙏

Not quite finished, but seeing the kids' faces as the artwork for our new library went up today was pure magic! We've transformed this space in the heart of the school 🥰

I'm a really big fab of the Opening Doors approach, particularly radial questions. I'd recommend checking it out.

Picked up these 2 recommendations from @smithsmm.bsky.social this week, both brilliant! Lots of scope with both, going to enjoy sharing with staff & children (my own kids enjoyed them too!) 🥰

This book is brilliant... Highly recommend for KS2, perfect for gaining a more concrete understanding of our impact on the planet. Serious messages, wrapped up perfectly for kids with a good dose of dry humour!

Had this recommended to me last week. I have been looking more deeply into oracy over the last few months. This looks like a really interesting bank of accessible & practical approaches: looking forward to reading it!

My summer reading, highly recommended! We're still working on 'An Ethic of Excellence' (Ron Berger) & using strategies & principles from 'Opening Doors' (Bob Cox et al) to develop our ambitious English curriculum. Best school visit: St Matthew's Research School & the inspiring Sonia Thompson.
