A followup thread to my post from #BatWeek, let's talk about how the pieces came out! Everything survived with just some minor hiccups. Our task was to create a #ceramic garden totem, and as I mentioned I am known for #BatsInArt after this project (several studio members call me Batman now)

SO thrilled with how this came out! Legitimately the glazes all look exactly how I wanted them to!

Recently completed a greenware decorating workshop which was surprisingly fun! Butterfly was the first one, then moon, then Toby. BF was a DIY transfer and saran wrap, moon was paper masking and balloon application, toby was polyurethane resist and water etching. All #AMACO underglazes.

I did try airbrushing on this, but my test piece came out better :/

For this anniversary, I hand-sculpted and glazed an idol of Shiranui out of Dillow White clay.

Ceramic pumpkin jar from a workshop. Currently greenware using Laguna Sybil's White, will hopefully survive the bisque. Originally was going to be a jack-o'-lantern but someone wanted to see how I do my bats.
Next time I'll probably assemble the bat before attaching.

This was actually painful to build. Idk the clay, but it refused to stick to itself. Originally head looked more complex but continuously fell apart.
I can't wait to drive her back across town while holding my breath so she can be fired later lol.

I was meaning to use Snowflake White, but this looks a lot like #Amaco Supernova. Poured over multiple washes (Random mix, yellow ochre, brownstone, light rutile), and then some chrome on the inside.

Cobalt wash applied liberally, then dipped in #Mayco Stoned Denim (overlap in middle) with a light chrome wash on top. Wish I used more Chrome.

Sides are 2x #Amaco Midnight Blue under 1x Sapphire Float, with the tops having 1x Seaweed and Supernova randomly as fluxes.
Bats 🦇 are 3x Vintage Gold, with some areas having a 4th coat.
Hat is SM Black
Mostly studio reclaim ^5, with some freebie black clay as well.
Sides are 2x #Amaco Midnight Blue under 1x Sapphire Float, with the tops having 1x Seaweed and Supernova randomly as fluxes.
