The Super Mario 3/Super Mario World aesthetic is unbeatable.

Do not watch this. You will feel terrible afterwards. Permanently.

Overall, I'm not angry with Jon M. Chu or the cast. They tried their best, but when the source material is like a C-, you're kind of limited with how far you can stretch it. Very disappointing after how good Part 1 was, but I'm also not surprised with the final product.

I hated both of the new songs. Very obvious attempt by Schwartz to get an original song Oscar. I liked the sentiment of Elphaba's new song, but hated the lyrics. Glinda's new song added nothing to her character or the plot.

"For Good" lacked emotional depth, but I think that's more to do with how uneven and random the script is and not really a slight against Cynthia and Ariana.

"As Long As Your Mine" was incredibly awkward and very poorly staged. "Wonderful" sticks out like a sore thumb tonally. They tried to give it some life, but it just comes out of nowhere and makes no sense.

Marissa Bode was fine. Again, Nessa really doesn't get to do much in Part 2, but she gave a perfectly serviceable performance.

Jonathan Bailey and Ethan Slater basically had nothing interesting to do in Part 2, but that's not really their fault. They did what they could with what they were given.

I didn't like Michelle Yeoh in Part 1, and I *really* did not like her in this. She was just bad. She seemed like she truly did not give a shit about this movie. Utterly detached from her character and the rest of the ensemble.

I knew we were in trouble when she basically shrugged her way through "Thank Goodness."

Ariana Grande did not do Act 2 Glinda any justice. Not sure if it was direction, not understanding the character, not having the dramatic chops or a combination of all three, but she seemed confused and adrift for almost the entire movie. A real shame. She was great in Part 1.

The costumes (especially Elphaba's), the sets, the hair, and the makeup were all amazing. Easy to see them getting some Oscar love again.

Jeff Goldblum is great too. The Wizard is not the most complicated part, but he was charming and nailed the "Oops I accidentally became supreme leader of Oz" vibe well.

Cynthia Erivo was phenomenal. She played Act 2 Elphaba as well as humanly possible. "No Good Deed" got well-deserved cheers and applause. She knocked that one out of the park.

It's a shame. I thought this was the best of the Hannibal Lecter books.

I'm a big rewatcher, and nothing excites me like a return to TP. It's one of the only shows I can come back to and almost always guarantee I'll walk away with some new understanding or a new appreciation of a particular character or plot. I feel the same way about Bojack Horseman and The Leftovers.

Teacher happy hours are insane. Almost as batshit crazy as food service happy hours.

"Why would we use any of the literally dozens and dozens of actors who have played Fiero around the world when we could instead just use Bowen Yang to play it for laughs and completely ruin the tone and purpose of a show-stopping number?"
