Why Because the #Democrat party is backed by #corporate #money just that same as the #Republicans and the shutdown is bad for #business.

Right, I'm asking why it's not accounted for by reducing the number of squares? The distortion would be reduced by making a graph more appropriate for a square than a grid.
The one I proposed still has distortion, but a lot less of it. A voronoi would have no distortion.

I think I should clarify the question...
If the roguelite is meant to be on a globe. At 60 degree you only need half the squares, and 75 you only need 1/4 the squares. So a square near the north pole could connect to two squares below it.
