I remember reading about that but never actually got one.

I’ll have to ask Kia about that.

Nope. We go to 80% and then drive on.

Model Y probably means you have access to more chargers because Tesla has a way bigger network.

I don’t believe the Niro charges slower than the Model Y but it definitely has a shorter range.

It’s just been my experience. Hope the infrastructure improves.

I too have done trips longer the 250+ range on a Kia Niro and agree that it’s doable.

But as someone who regularly drove from MA to DC in one day, that isn’t really feasible. Unless I’m not maximizing charging speed by hitting the fastest chargers, it seemed to take significantly longer stops.

Until EVs tackle the problem of driving longer than a charge on a road trip, there will always be ICE cars although probably just hybrids.

Range will definitely get better but until you can swap out batteries like a gas station or charge in 15 mins, road trips are more cumbersome.

The only Metro systems I’ve ever used that were good at that were London and NYC which both have way more stations than DC.

Also doesn’t help that the Red Line is a U, the least efficient shape for a Metro line.
