A colleague and I have noticed a massive increase in the use of the word "delve" in scholarly papers. Could be a cultural trend? Could be a ChatGPT fave word? Hmmm.

I read the news today. Feeling less informed and more horrified. Ugh. Gonna read some scholarly papers. 50-50 chance there will be improvement.

Great hockey photography. Not much of a fight fan, but love seeing Emmitt Finnie (58) protecting the good guys. #LGRW

Sure, keeping regular hours as an academic is a challenge. I prefer to think of the professorly work schedule as “Wizard’s hours.”

Nice to have friends and colleagues come over for a visit. I enjoy hearing about the chaotic happenings at the university.

Ok. I feel better. I was upset yesterday when an advert for an AI romantic partner appeared in my insta feed. Today, I got an advert for Porsche. That is just funny.

Weird hypothesis I need to investigate: psychology papers on topics deemed to be critical (e.g. teen suicide, indigenous mental health) are more likely than other topics to use QRP or fraud because the papers are given extra lenience due to the subject matter.

I am really not sure why I ever expected major universities to behave with more integrity and courage than businesses and industry. Universities are business and industry. Naïveté, I guess.

Ugh. I enjoy the mind-reading insta ad algorithm. But being invited to set up an AI romantic partner is so…..ick. I must be putting out desperate vibes. Time to go and shut down the ads.
