So yeah, 8/10. And I use a full scale for my ratings, so that's a solid: if you like assassins creed, go play it. If you haven't like others, there's no reason to start here.

There are many boss fights where they would be a slog to get through playing Naoe, and you can just pick Yasuke and curb stomp them instead. And that feels like a forcing function to play Yasuke, but I would prefer if they both felt powerful overall.

When you're Yasuke you're going to be walking in the front door and chopping your way through the crowd. Which feels good, but makes the game feel smaller when you just completely ignore the stealth and traversal. But in many cases he's just the better choice of character to play.

The only downside of Yasuke is that he feels so slow compared to Naoe. She can scale buildings and stealth assassinate and has lots of tools. Yasuke, on the other hand, has a melee weapon and a ranged weapon, and that's basically his options.

Naoe is a good assassin, and her struggle with vengeance vs freedom is a classically good AC story. The parallels with Yasuke and other characters is extremely well done, and I liked everyone in the main cast. Yasuke's story was more interesting to me, but also felt like a side story comparatively.

I'm a sucker for assassins creed. I have played nearly every one on PC (rogue installed, but I need to just get around to it). So I knew what I was getting into and it never surprised me nor disappointed me. The story leans a lot on Naoe's lineage, and it never follows through on that story.
