Indeed. I have a colleague who is doing research on toilets and people who are unhoused in San Diego and the politics are rough

There are some options but I’m in favour of washrooms that provide access to people who are unhoused as they need them most.

Very much agree. That’s why I proposed a pilot in Gibbons and some extended signage. I’d like to see more but trying to ask for what I think is possible, while pushing for what is needed.

Good to see the City of London doing a report to inform future plans. I hope we can move beyond if washrooms are available to also include accessibility, quality and safety, privacy and dignity as key criteria, as per the UN framework on access to sanitation. #publictoilets #ldnont

This isn’t my specific area of focus but access for unhoused people is a big concern, especially when washrooms close in the winter. If someone menstruates or can’t covertly toilet, there are dignity and safety issues. Public washroom access is a human right, not a nice to have.
