Resistance makes #kochia hard to manage. We predict herbicide resistance development risk by modeling spray staging vs. future nonlethal dosing exposure to carfentrazone. Spray it below 5 cm with no branches. Open access through the link. #WestCdnAg #CdnAg 🧪 doi.org/10.1139/cjps...

@shaun-m-sharpe.bsky.social said kochia has been detected in Saskatchewan as far north as Blaine Lake, about 80 kilometres north of Saskatoon, in the province’s northern grainbelt. www.theweathernetwork.com/en/news/life...

We are raising awareness of invasive pigweeds in the Prairies. Weed ID is important to tell if it's Palmer, waterhemp, or local pigweeds. We are growing out some different amaranth in the greenhouse for training and imaging purposes. Any guesses on this one? Is it #WeedyOrWanted?

We saw some weird purple spotting on lambsquarters growing out in the field edge during our walk today. Anyone recognize the spotting? Other weeds around but no others were spotted. We brought a few back to track if it spreads or they recover.

We just propagated some foxtail barley for a small study. We have kept these plants alive for a year so far in the greenhouse. We cut it back pretty heavily over the winter but it is alive...

Well folks, we're back for another season of #WeedIDWednesday! This first weed for the week is one that has been popping up a bit in Central AB (Thanks @cropdocwatch for some of these pics). I think I get pictures of it every year and I start out stumped. Name that weed!

Black medic is an invasive yellow clover. The middle trifoliate has an elongated petiole to help ID vs white clover.

Weed surveys including pre-harvest and post-harvest seed collections for resistance screenings continue this year in #SK. We will target 1000 fields for abundance surveys. Soon you may be hearing from our teams if your fields were randomly selected. #WestCdnAg #CdnAg www.prairieweeds.com
