The red glow along Cable Beach is for the Oct to Mar turtles nesting season.
Bright lights can disturb nesting flatbacks and confuse hatchlings, but by using the moonlight or red light it helps both mothers and babies stay on track.
Keep lights low switch to red follow the Turtle Code of Conduct

Lower numbers than thought, and a slow rate of increase may not be enough to buffer against ongoing impacts from fishing, and the rapidly warming waters on the east coast which could alter habitats and prey distribution around sites they aggregate and breed at.
