Speaking of obnoxious cards, I can't wait for Counter Catcher to just rotate already.

Oh, that's easy for me: my first Game Boy Color with all of Pokémon Red, Blue, and Pinball, back in Christmas '99. I count my 7-year-old self lucky for that one.

Though, it took me about half a year to even figure out how to leave the protag's room in Red. I didn't have glasses yet. XD

This just about covers it. The CEO's response in the piece at least clarifies that it's not about replacing employees, but his comment about "(not) releasing a game with any AI components" doesn't wash with... well, ANY use of generative AI at any level. bsky.app/profile/ign....

Larian Studios, developer of Baldur's Gate 3 and the just-announced Divinity, is apparently using generative AI behind the scenes.

The backlash has been swift and loud, and now Larian founder and game director Swen Vincke has responded to clarify his remarks. https://bit.ly/4qcNbSz

I WOULD say that this is, if still scummy, a little less egregious than $200 worth of DLC (none of which is even on sale right now) for a $50 game on sale for $30... but this other game apparently has microtransactions, which is a hard "no" from me. Another reason to be leery of Bandai Namco.

The usual price for this base game is $50. I'd hardly call that cheap.

But I agree, it's a scummy policy.

On top of that, from what I've seen, Highguard features a medieval setting with horses and magic... but also a bunch of futuristic sci-fi tech like in every other live-service hero shooter? Does Wildlight not know what they even want their friggin' game to be or something?
