July Talk’s first two albums had an amazing raw rock sound. I listened to some of their new stuff earlier this year. I hate to use such a cliché, but it felt like they’d completely lost their edge. The new tracks I heard were all pop-infested navel-gazey pseudorock. It really bummed me out.
