🧪 Sonogenetics = gene therapy + ultrasound.

I interviewed @logantcollins.bsky.social on the nuances of this technique.

Merge Labs may be first to try.
Will it work?

Let’s see what emerges from Merge.

Coffee made the raster go faster?
It's just a little over my head.

If you are a physicist, let's collect each other!
Along with neuro people,
I have a tendency to collect physics people!

One way could be to have more blue belly (aka western fence) lizards around.

There is a component of their blood that neutralizes the Lyme disease-causing bacteria in the tics that bite them.

Next time you go outdoors and see a #lizard like this, thank them for preventing the spread of Lyme!

Same bookshelf, now booked
July 6, 2025 at 6:19 AM
Used this board to create a new floating bookshelf over the door!

Thus opening doors to opening books!

Materials to build the bookshelf enabled by my partner, @kylekabasares.bsky.social, smiling orange bookend was a gift from @malenarice.bsky.social

In a world with a growing mental health crisis
and a growing number of people experiencing neurodegeneration,
how might we bridge the gaps?

After years of quiet, dedicated work, I am excited to talk more about Sanmai.

But now, I have a car and sold my bike.
And I regularly work with two laptops and a tablet.
These are rather heavy.

Rolling backpack?
We are so back!

This is the cake Bill's daughter made for his 72nd birthday party, when Bill joked he was turning 27.

I guess when life gives you lemons
and life is like a box of chocolates,
you never know what you're going to get.

Maybe it's not really lemonade,
it's lemon chocolate cake.

Currently grateful for: Bill Atkinson.

He was the person who collected me from the airport when I was moving to the Silicon Valley. I visited his house several times, met his family and dog, enjoyed learning from his stories. We were friends.

General Magic indeed.

Turns out the tungsten needs to be pushed in more than in the last post's picture.

Made progress in welding.

First, with beads of steel,
then welding two plates together,
then a corner.

The metal holds together!
It looks nice and neat on the inside!

Currently happy about: learning TIG welding with mild steel!

I do not have an axe to grind, but I had tungsten electrodes to sharpen

The article is free for anyone to read.

Lisa Shafer of Biogen discussed neurotech and biopharma interactions, and investors highlighted a shifting financial environment.

While I have been to various neuro conferences this year, sadly, none of them had any personnel at all from the FDA or NIH

Good times and learnings with Neurotech Reports's 8th annual Bioelectronic Medicine Forum at the New York Academy of Medicine!

I wrote a conference report on the discussions of policy shifts, link in comments.

Realized I could use this wooden board to make a moveable TV stand out of my rolling whiteboard!

Added a few screws to stabilize the setup. This whiteboard assembly now also serves as a better room divider than before!

I had wonderful luck today: received multiple tubes, dishes, and holders as a gift from a neighbor! Now to find equipment to pump fluids and measure reagents!
