The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good & the very gentle & the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry.

Such articles are frustrating because they avoid the material questions: In his support for Trump, was Rogan stupid or complicit? What values does he espouse? Clearly, he knows that his success is predicated on his appeal to the manosphere. These criticisms seem to be just temporary damage control.

An enduring memory from 2025 will be the night when Jemimah Rodrigues - mud-stained, anxious, tired, controlled, innovative & resolute to the bitter end - shepherded India to an improbable win. We cried, we laughed, we were inspired, women's cricket changed forever & Little Jemi walked into legend.

It is a testament to the collective stupidity of our society and of the auto-industry that we scolded drivers for texting on touchscreen phones while praising a billionaire who put critical controls on touchscreens to cut costs and drive business efficiencies, all under the guise of minimalism.
Amazingly, reaction times using screens while driving are worse than being drunk or high—no wonder 90 percent of drivers hate using touchscreens in cars. Finally the auto industry is coming to its senses.

📣THREAD: It’s surprising to me that so many people were surprised to learn that Signal runs partly on AWS (something we can do because we use encryption to make sure no one but you–not AWS, not Signal, not anyone–can access your comms).

It’s also concerning. 1/
PSA: we're aware that Signal is down for some people. This appears to be related to a major AWS outage. Stand by.

@sarahkendzior.bsky.social is one of the finest and most prescient writers in America. It doesn't say much for the competence of @bsky.app's moderation team, when she is banned for -- of all things -- a Johnny Cash reference. They should try reading one of her books instead.

1/ A longtime Wired editor just wrote a mush-brained essay about how he totally missed the political rot of Silicon Valley (& still doesn't get it).

But in the late 1990s, a Wired journalist warned of a toxic ideology bubbling up from tech. Paulina Borsook has largely been erased. Let's change that

This is the first time I’ve seen a dedicated parking spot for cargo bikes. [The Container Store, Stanford Shopping Mall.]

Thank you for sharing. One rarely hears the privacy risk of agentic AI solutions articulated so concisely at this level of technical precision and clarity. I’m glad she wants Signal to keep holding out against the onslaught on privacy.
Worth a watch:

Head of Signal, Meredith Whittaker, on so-called "agentic AI" and the difference between how it's described in the marketing and what access and control it would actually require to work as advertised.

El Camino Real in Palo Alto and Mountain View has become a lot safer for bicycle commuters. They even have some stretches physically fenced out from car lanes and clearly painted conflict zones.
