Saying you want something 'age appropriate' is bullshit. Embrace the discomfort, talk to your kids, trust your library staff, and educate the government on some literary theory.

Turns out I'm not done ranting. Readers Response theory is an idea that each individual brings their own experiences to literature. What resonates for one person won't resonate for another. Having books that allow youth to explore challenging concepts is important (and necessary).

Instead of having more government intervention, talk to your kids about what they’re reading. What they’re interested in. What’s important to them. Libraries have rigorous collection development policies. Please trust us to do our jobs #librariesmatter
