I had the pleasure of hearing Margaret Atwood speak tonight in #yeg! But I have to confess that I left unsatiated. I was looking for inspiration and motivation and women’s power and was left with advice like, “women should take self defense.” I enjoyed it but wanted more #atwood

As escapism my kids and I watched Twisters and then watched the original Twister from 1996. Even my 12 and 14 year olds agreed that the original Twister movie is much scarier than the newer movie. The original definitely holds up!

Real talk for #yeg parents: what do you do for your 13 year olds in the summer? There are almost no camps for them and I'll be working this summer. Just because they can be home all day does not mean they should be. Does anyone have any ideas?

My sessional gig as a communications instructor is officially over. Presentations are graded, finals are graded, and grades are submitted. This was a great and very stressful experience. I am very excited to go back to doing what I'm really good at (library stuff). #fin

I am grading my first major assignment for my class. I always knew it would be obvious when a student didn't do their own work, but holy crap, they're not even trying. Citations to Google Book previews? Check. Fake citations? Check. I just don't get it.

Does anyone in #YEG have any ideas for fall break camps for a 13 year old? The PD camps I've found all seem to age out at 12, and the truthfully, that age group needs camps just as much as the younger ones. Any ideas?

While I wouldn't say I ever thought being a sessional was easy, I had no idea how hard it actually is. It's not even related to the content itself but to everything surrounding it (technology, institutional standards, setup, blah blah). What have I done!?

In the last two weeks I have accepted two new jobs (ironically at the same institution). I'm feeling a mix of gratitude, anxiety, and excitement. But, I am going back into the academic classroom and that makes me SO happy! #yeg #backtowork
