“Alligator Alcatraz” will begin operations on Wednesday.

This is your reminder that a prison without due process is a concentration camp.

Vince

He worked at the citrus ranch with some of the others I knew. He was big on taking candy to work with him. He was big on family. If a kid was getting a treat and he saw, he would pay for it. If I didn't have my car, he would make sure I got home safe.

Jose

I'm not sure of Jose's younger years, but when I met him, he had his own lawn care business. He had also been a mechanic for decades prior to that. He would just say hi, he would fix my car, he would help me with yard work. He spoke softly, moved the same way, and was a great dad.

No one looks at my stuff, so I gave no reference. I wanted to share about field workers I knew personally, what they did, and a little fact about them. Most are now legal but could still be profiled.

Tony.

Tony was a hard worker with a big laugh. He would always have a joke for every situation, could get along with everyone, but took no crap. He worked irrigation for a large citrus ranch. Watering, hail cannons, hog watching. He liked spicy peanuts in his soda.

Ramiro.

He had spent much of his life working in fields. He would teach me a little Spanish, and I would help him with English. He had switched to yard work and would help with basic car maintenance. He would come to my job and tell me to go join him for a "frajo."

Ramon.

He should have been retired but instead was still climbing ladders and working on citrus ranches to pay bills. His crew boss was pretty understanding and let him work when he was able. His family had to force him to rest after his cancer diagnosis. He loved sugary coffee and a pastry.

David.

We went to school together. He would get up extra early to go help his mom in the fields to help keep a roof over their heads. He had fluffy hair, liked Pantera, and worked his butt off.

This is heartbreaking. Field workers are some of the hardest working people I've ever known. This video has broken me tonight.

I'm so sorry. I really hope we, as a country, can figure out how to end this. We need to save lives.
We feed you.
They hunt us.

No one will see this, but I needed to say it.

I'm really fucking sad.

Watch and listen.

Passionate and honest @replsimon.bsky.social lets the world know what is happening if this budget is passed.

Unbelievable cruelty upon those who need it most. And after hearing this, those in the committee still voted yes.

Do you think they'll go to the public to say why?
