This is so relevant to our world today. We have to make sure to keep our world healthy and do our part as a species to lessen our impact on it. This is something everyone should look into to make sure they understand just how important food sustainability is! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I hope to work in primary care, so it is extremely important for me to understand how nutrition impacts our health, and how environment and social factors impact our nutrition. I plan to use what I have learned in class to be a more understanding healthcare provider! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This is so helpful! As finals are approaching, I think a lot of students can relate to how properly nourishing ourselves and stress can often go hand in hand. Will definitely be referencing this in the coming weeks! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

During the craziness of finals I have started to rely on quick airfryer recipes. There are so many different ways to incorporate healthy and nutritious foods which makes it so I never get bored! I've found a bunch of recipes online which has been very helpful. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This is perfect for what we are learning this week as it is highlighting the importance of getting kids excited about food and nutrition! This is some great advice and I think I would've really appreciated this as a kid. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This is a great article on how to get kids involved and excited about their nutrition needs! Helping kids establish a good relationship with food is so important, especially at a young age. I chose this article because it was easy to digest and good overall advice! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This is so important to talk about as groceries are already so expensive. As a college student, it was already difficult to afford nutritious/healthy meals...with prices increasing that is only going to get more impossible. Definitely keeping an eye out! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
Grocery prices are climbing as new tariffs hit. Expect higher costs on 10 key items, including seafood, coffee, wine, nuts, cheese, rice, and olive oil. Nearly half of supermarket products may be affected. Your cart just got more expensive. #Tariffs

Higher prices are likely for these 10 grocery items when tariffs hit
A trip to the grocery or liquor store is about to become even more expensive, economists say. From seafood to olive oil, these items will likely cost more under President Trump's tariffs.

It was honestly shocking to me how I related to Tom's story. After covid I had a similar, reality-shifting convo as him when my mom pointed out my eating habits and how they had had an impact on me - just like his wife & friend. It's a hard convo but also necessary! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This is some great advice! Sometimes I forget that, just because I am eating a salad, it doesn't necessarily mean it is the healthiest combination of food all of the time. This was a good reminder to be mindful of what I'm consuming. Thanks for sharing! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
Salads can be super healthy, or sneaky junk food in disguise. Creamy dressings, fried toppings & sugary add-ons = calorie bombs. Go for dark greens, grilled protein, fresh veggies, and healthy fats. Build smart, eat fresh! #Salads #nnm www.webmd.com/diet/ss/slid...
The Healthiest (and Worst-for-You) Salads
Some salads are loaded with nutrition, while others serve up more fat than a cheeseburger. WebMD's slideshow will help you know which ones you should choose -- and which ones to avoid.

One thing that stuck with me this week was how much obesity has begun to affect not just the general population, but children specifically. This is something that I find to be concerning and want to do my part to set a healthy example for my younger siblings from now on! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This is super helpful as often times a major barrier for people when preparing food is lack of time or knowledge to cook healthy foods. Coming from a single parent household, time is scarce! This is a great resource. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

One of the barriers I dealt with a lot, especially growing up, was an unhealthy diet of friends and family. When I was a kid, what I ate and deemed as good food was heavily influenced by the eating habits of people around me. Because they ate unhealthy, I often did too. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This is so true! I always find that when I have a more positive, goal-based mindset, I am able to accomplish my goals much better than if I have a more negative mindset. However, this is not true for a lot of my friends. Good to know either is ok! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I've never heard of diet culture being framed this way! What a great way to put the pressure of dieting in todays day and age. Would love to see how the revolving door of fad diets play a role in this mindset. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
I’m going to answer more from experience than data. Food noise is when it’s a distraction… intrusive thought, that doesn’t go away after you eat. Unfortunately diet culture tells us normal hunger is noise and noise tells us it’s normal hunger. But everyone’s experience is unique - makes it harder!
here's a question we asked dietitians in one of our private/closed groups...How would you answer? 🤔

I am really interested in learning more about the intermittent fasting diet! I have been hearing about this diet more recently and it seems to have very good temporary results, however, the long term may be a different story. I would love to learn about its consequences! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This week, for my 24-hour food recall (tacos, ramen, snacks), I realized that my eating habits have been heavily dictated by convenience recently. Things like snacks, takeout, and sometimes just skipping meals have become a habit for me for the sake of saving time, money, and energy. @beh353 #beh353

I wonder what it is about the mediterranean dietary pattern that is so beneficial for heart and brain health! I'm interested in seeing what macro and micro nutrients are consistent in this diet that might play a factor in this. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

One micro or macronutrient that we discussed in the lecture was sugar and a fun fact is that there are a lot of names sugar will go by - agave nectar, dextrose, evaporated cane juice etc. This is important for people to know because need to read food labels correctly! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
February 3, 2025 at 4:48 AM
It's interesting to me how often it seems food has been recalled recently! Is this typical for the food industry or is this something consumers should be keeping an eye on? This is the brand of milk my family uses so definitely will be cautious going forward. @beh353.bsky.social 3 #beh353

One thing that stood out to me is how studies can be retracted. Multiple examples were shown in the lecture (green coffee extract) where a study was inaccurate and had to be taken back. From now on I will pay special attention to how studies are marketed/pushed in mainstream media. @beh353 #beh353

I'm a second-year M&M biology student and am taking this course because it fits a minor requirement and also seems really interesting! I am curious about how nutrition can vary based on location. I associate the word "organic" w healthy eating. My favorite food is steak! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
