Sculptor and potter.
Newspaper helps get rid of the streaks. I just use windex or the store brand equivalent.

We wait for those higher up or who are currently more skilled or bolder to take action. And we are disappointed when they don't save us.

Sacrificing or relying on people who've always been there doing the work is not the way forward.

When we always defer to so-called leaders, experts and authorities, we do not develop similar proactive qualities in ourselves and we undervalue "softer" or more pro-social ways to influence others.

In fact, it's appropriate for some people to move back because it takes everyone, not just a few firebrands, to create change. We are merely mimicking harmful (hierarchical) structures when other people don't move forward to build their skills and lend what they can.

We are literally abusing people when we ask for ever more from them, especially when individual activists usually are not supported in any tangible way by their own communities.

People get to rest if they are tired or ill, and a supportive community would recognize that need.

Activism should be about creating strong individuals and communities, not martyrdom.

Winner-takes-all is the main problem.

The right to sue is important because corporate/political entities refuse to be self-regulating and accountable to people. It's also only the most egregious cases usually forwarded by relatively privileged people that go to court. Suing is often the only way that people can check abuses of power.

Good old bad old days.

Yeah i love that show.

In fact, if you are not worrying about or mitigating dangers while doing activism, you are just being reckless.

I'm going to make that judgment that it's bad dude-bro activism. And there's plenty of that on the Left because privileged people want to rush about so they can look or sound radical.

I am constantly disappinted in how thoughtless people are because I know that we all can hold more than one idea in our head about an issue and that for some folks the stakes are higher.

Not everything is either/or. Sometimes it's and.

I'm already worn out from people and it's not even noon!

Then I was talking to a friend about our anxiety over losing hrt. He has hiv & I'm trans.

Some dude-bro protestor-guy piped in that I need to get comfortable breaking the law (rah rah rah!) when I was discussing how dangerous it is for trans people to engage in the alternative economy.

I appreciate that my friend took this picture of it upside down. She's a potter, so that's why. I enjoy leaving the very bottom of vessels rougher & less touched. I also try for a legible signature vs a fancy looking one, which is a choice that probably betrays something about me. #ceramics #pottery

Oh yes, drawing is a little scary. It's accessible, but there's always baggage around it about being good. My father made me stop an afterschool art class when I was a kid because he was upset "that was all" I'd made. As an adult, I really like quick gestural sketches and drawing for sculptures.

I don't have access to a ceramic studio space that I feel comfortable attending. I do have woodcarving tools and lots of pencil and paper though, so I'm doing some of that.
