There aren't many days in the year when a Mark Millar comic hasn't appeared. But I'm yet to find one for today, the 6th December. However, we know that Millar loved the Frank Miller covers for 1984's Superman The Secret Years. So here's the second issue of STSY, which was out 40 years ago today.

It's worth adding it's an issue that was adored by Millar when it first appeared, & it still appears on his lists of favourite comics. The list of artists on its back cover is a remarkable one, and writer Gerry Conway was producing some fine League tales during the period.

On release today in 1997, Mark Millar's first issue of Superman Adventures - #16 - with collaborators Aluir Amâncio, Terry Austin, Rick Taylor & Lois Buhalis. On its very last page, there's a lovely nod towards "Bates and Maggin", Millar's favourite Supes writers when he was a lad.
