Can I please remind everyone that you can treat many green vegetables like you do flowers- trim the stems, put them in, a cup (or vase, Mrs Dalloway) with water, and put it in the fridge. Asparagus, even limp broccoli becomes crisp overnight, even leafy greens (but these won't keep as long)
The innards of my fridge, with pak choy which had been left out to droop but is now *crisp*, and broccoli, and asparagus. Plus a little of the rocoto chili jam I made yesterday, whooh, so hot and sweet

Pepper, who was but a chick last year, has made a nest under the koromiko in the mara hue; yesterday I found this polished rock in her nest- I put it aside. Today there were almost a dozen small round greywacke stones. Maybe it's a lesser value stone so she needs more. I have the chicken mauri stone

Lol! A good scarf is a beautiful thing, it's amazing how much warmer life is with a warm neck. I got this beauty on pink shirt day, at the op shop across from the library, and have worn it most days since. Alpaca, darling! Peru!

At Koko a Wani or Swann’s Cove it’s 74 strident paces of a 13 year old girl who’s just learnt to skip stones, making me feel like a good dad. Side by side in the tawny sand, by the size nine bare footprints, a line of green mangrove propagules scallops the high tide, lime. Successive retreating waves left a perfect smoothness, stubbed by rocks which once were part of the sandstone cliffs looming around and over the whole cove, layers of strata, of papa, like stacks of too many too long lines of words on a page, poetry only geologists can read, the verse of ages, cleft for me. All of which means there’s plenty of flat pebbles, made for skipping, fallen during the unceasing battle between Tangaroa and Tane, shown here where the 74 paces pass salt white sun-bleached wood. A very close observer might see a series of spots on the dry sand, slightly damper and ruffled but drying, where flat stones used to be. Tiny waves remind us of big waves. The tide will lean back in again. If the kid can skip a stone, and hit a target, I’m doing something right. ...sand becomes rock becomes sand becomes rock becomes sand...
