This diagram from IAWN shows what that line of uncertainty looks like for 1.3% chance of impact with Earth. It's easier to see why it's more likely to just be a close approach.

Update: Odds have slightly increased to 1 in 83. This is one of the highest probabilities of an impact from a significantly sized rock ever, making it a Torino scale 3. Most likely outcome is still a near miss. We continue to track it!

2/2 - nothing to panic about. Rock is not huge (meteor crater size) and the probabilities will most likely drop as more data comes in. Likely to be a very close approach in Dec of 2032. We've seen this before (2023 DZ2). One to keep an eye on for sure.
