What do you get when two billionaire control freaks hijack democracy and call it “efficiency”? A government run like a startup, rights hidden in the fine print, and a social contract rewritten by tech bros with a God complex. #elonmusk #peterthiel #authoritarianism

For those of us who devoted our careers to serving the public at the Department of Justice, Trump’s speech was like watching someone murder a loved one on live TV. I am sickened by it.
In Speech to Justice Dept., Trump Airs Grievances Against His Enemies
The president, once the target of federal prosecution, says he wants to combat “weaponization” of the department, even as he uses its powers to punish enemies and reward allies.

Although the judge cannot make DOJ go forward with the Eric Adams case, they need his permission to dismiss the case. He should conduct a hearing to find out what is going on here.
Rule 48. Dismissal

Now would be a good time to demand a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing to take sworn testimony about the ongoing politicization of DOJ.

Add Danielle Sassoon and the other members of the Valentine’s Day 7 to the pantheon of Justice Department heroes. My thoughts in @TheAtlantic.
The Valentine’s Day Seven
DOJ lawyers pride themselves on working for an organization that is unique among federal agencies in its independence from politics—for now.

The normalization of corruption is underway.
Apparently bribery is no longer a crime.

This is not a promising early project for a new presidential administration.
FLASH: Dept of Justice chief of staff Chad Mizelle: “The decision to dismiss the indictment of Eric Adams is yet another indication that this DOJ will return to its core function of prosecuting dangerous criminals, not pursuing politically motivated witch hunts."

Incompetence in Washington puts every American at risk, no matter how you voted. No one should be happy that the DOGE team - the same folks who randomly published classified U.S. security information online today - wants access to your bank account & Social Security numbers.
