THEY/THEM

What’s here: camping, emergency prepping, dog, cool clouds, projects, new or old art by me, small triumphs, cool rocks/roadcuts/landscapes, old things, being disabled, autisming, Minnesotan forever but stuck in ND

I have yet to present this idea to my anthropologist mom but it came to me when I was making my bed and I thought “each layer is like a talisman of something that brings me joy, protecting me while I sleep”.

I made honey garlic shrimp for myself. It turned out quite well, but I won’t be attempting again. A painful reality of chronic illness is needing to accept where to draw the line for things that you can’t quite handle doing. It took 3 hours for me to prep for a 10 minute prep recipe. I am exhausted.

Vincent says when the world feels like it’s falling apart, the best place to be is in a warm bed.

Vincent is not a fan of the gales of November. He says they are too cold.

I love dressing up and decorating but Vincent is glad Halloween is over. We do share a fear of clowns.

THIS IS MY FANTASTIC BIRTHDAY ROCK. It is a polished slice of 3.5-4 billion year old metaconglomerate. This means it started as mixed sediment deposits in a shallow sea. They were smashed into stone and then twisted, crushed, heated, and cooled to end up in the Narryer Gneiss terrane in Australia.

My toxic autistic trait is that every time I see a cool historically significant vehicle of any persuasion I become convinced it is my life’s purpose to ride in it.

The stars over a Minnesota lake cabin quiet the mind.

Poor Vincent woke up with a sore leg today. Monitoring to see if he needs to go to vet.

I’m on a steam train 🚂
September 7, 2025 at 6:30 PM
The neat thing about this steam tractor parade is they list all the parts that broke and were repaired as they announce each tractor. As an autistic person, I find the attention to detail charming.

I appreciate the pirate flag.

It’s a good day to stare at steam tractors
