Thinking about how the Senators' young stars were likely asked last season to sacrifice their individual production to focus on improved team defense, and how that wouldn't have gone nearly as smoothly had Pierre Dorion not signed them to long-term deals already.

Good deal. I think he'll be fine on the 3rd pair next year but there's also flexibility for Staios to find another RHD and push him to the 7th spot. Still lots of uncertainty that will come down to Giroux's deal and others.
