galbaldy alpha HMT with the gyan missile shield is possibly where it's at. i think it makes sense if you're going all in on offense
how do you feel about more modern missile shields like the one for the jegan?
art and specs for the ms-17r galbaldy alpha high mobility type much of the leg armor has been removed so the art provides a nice look at the galbaldy alpha's pretty gnarly back and leg thrusters. there's also some weapons art, including a beam machine gun, missile shield, and beam saber the art here is done by masato natsumoto (might be wrong on this one) source: Anaheim Laboratory Log

it's been a while since i've done digital art, so my linework is a bit off. i like how the coloring turned out though.
the doodle won't appear on my profile view for some reason, i hope she's just taking a while to load
a doodle of the autonomous combat mecha heavy lobster from kirby super star and kirby super star ultra. the coloring is not quite faithfully recreated from the concept art for heavy lobster. her body is mostly gold, except for green glass for the eyes and claw sensor as well as silver for part of some decorative wings on the back and some other areas. the engine exhaust is blowing out shiny blue colored bubbles, as recreated from the source material. with her legs swept back, heavy lobster is moving to the right of the image. i could not find design credits for heavy lobster, i'm guessing she was drawn by kirby super star's illustrator tetsuya notoya doodled in drawafish.com the website's analysis says the probability of the doodle being a fish is 64 point 7 percent

yeah, chest engine setups always seem really aesthetically interesting. i also like the pelvis engines scopedogs are implied to have sometimes. instead of the scopedog's cockpit blowing up, it gets "turret-tossed" like a soviet tank and that's really fun

i finished watching combat mecha xabungle. it's astonishing how well-crafted the show is overall, and i really enjoyed the tractor-like mecha designs in it. very good show if you like strong women.

the pen i've been using kinda felt like it was on its last legs, so i opted not to erase the sketch lines since the inked lines might be weak. sorry if it looks kinda funky, i might post a cleaned up version later
rough sketch of the enemy army IFV from royal space force: wings of honnêamise. it has six wheels, a small turret closer to the front of the hull, a cylindrical hull section in the middle, and then a cube-shaped hull section emerging from rear of the cylinder with exit doors in the back. the turret's short-barreled autocannon is pointing to the upper right, into the horizon. there's some sort of spike on top of the turret close to the gun, and the part of the hull under the turret has a small viewport. the front of the hull has a wide armor panel applied to the bottom of it. the sponsons of the IFV are made up of sections of a thick, wide triangle that extends beyond the rear exit doors. the rear exit has a small two-step ladder under it. the sponsons each have what looks like an air intake and two exhaust pipes sticking on top of the rear side, as well as turn signals at the rearmost parts. the cylindrical part of the hull roof has what looks like two periscopes, a giant quarter-circle exit hatch, and some other panels on the roof. a long radio antenna sticks out of the hull roof, tied down by another antenna attached to one of the sponsons. there's cylindrical side exit doors under the sponsons, between the two front wheels and the four rear wheels. the IFV is going left and slightly into the horizon, so there's a good view of the rear of the vehicle and 5 out of the 6 total wheels. since the wheels are rolling, the details of the inside of the wheels are blurred. the wheels are attached to bent arms on the bottom of the hull as well as pistons sticking out the sides of the hull. mechanical designer is (probably?) hideaki anno

not having a specs writeup for this vehicle really bothers me. the autocannon sorta reminds me of some 37mm guns design-wise, but i'm not sure about the exact size of the gun. i don't trust my writing skill to describe my drawings, so specs help with that

i couldn't find the settei again. and there's differences in details between scenes, like antennae positions or part of the hull being different shapes.
maybe this is what it feels like to draw real AFVs with huge amounts of variation, like the sherman...

i saw people using this anime bingo card a few days ago and felt it might be fun to fill out. my taste outside of old mecha anime seems to be extremely questionable, though... maybe it's like having tunnel vision?

i accomplished my goal of doing a quicker drawing, but i think i still ended up overcomplicating it. drawing a convincing starry sky while pretending that the colors are inverted is surprisingly hard...
drawing of jiron amos from combat mecha xabungle on a monobike and staring at the night sky, facing away from the viewer. the drawing largely consists of white lines on a black background. since the bike doesn't have a kickstand, jiron has his left foot on the ground and his left hand on one of the handles to prevent the bike from falling over. jiron's right arm is limp from it breaking in episode 1. there are two shooting stars going left across the sky, over some mountains in front of jiron i couldn't find settei or credits for the monobike, but it's the monobike that jiron struggles to ride one-armed in episode 2 of xabungle. its design borrows a bit from mopeds while being much more bulky, with two big exhaust pipes next to the turn signals on the back. it is drawn somewhat inconsistently from scene to scene, so the drawing takes a few creative liberties. if you happen to know the bike's model name and designer, please tell them to me (the designer is probably kunio okawara or yoshiyuki tomino but i want to be 100% sure) jiron amos is designed by tomonori kogawa same drawing as the previous one, but without image editing. so the drawing is black lineart on a white background, instead of white lineart on a black background

even with pen and paper drawings, knowing some image editing stuff can be useful. for example, inverting the colors on your art could create a cool effect, or let you make a night scene without manually coloring the sky.

referring to the gears online page for jim's jeep... yeah, definitely not a light tank's cannon. someone down the line definitely forgot to move the decimal point over

this turned out pretty alright, actually. especially the explosion effects.
i recommend watching mospeada if you're looking for a mecha anime with a varied soundtrack, since the story plays around with music as a theme. i didn't vibe with it as much as macross, though.
