I have had ppl tell me they do not believe they should be able to live in the CA cities they were displaced from because housing they could afford would ruin the city.

I assume housing element minimums are based on population? Like 1 unit per every 100 residents or similar? Implicitly rewarding more NIMBY municipalities?

I'm sorry, that sucks ass.

But that sounds like the precise sort of precarity that rural living engenders. I actually intended to live somewhere similar for a while and had a somewhat similar experience, and it was my first exposure to nearly being homeless. Managed to avoid it that time tho.
