The former was more copious. "one page resumes are no longer a thing." Also gave feedback on _how_ to go about communicating the bullet point I was trying to say.
It's also easier for the career coach to cut down, rather than build up, so a longer resume for them was better.

I had no regrets spending money on a career coach. They reviewed my resume and gave some insight into how the process has changed recently. Not something I would do frequently, but they really cut through the BS.

It's interesting to me that I was better at curation when I was a child! I had to be, and I had more time. The internet, and myself, are fundamentally different now. Perhaps I'll figure it out eventually.

That's 2014 - 10 years ago. I don't find that baffling at all, especially because I am one of those people. You curate parts of your feed on the social media sites that allow it, but so much of it is not your own curation. That jump from 20% to 100% is pretty huge.

Demon Copperhead is excellent, but I definitely wasn't expecting it to remain so difficult for much longer than the original.

One thing I liked about the original is that he found a better life long before the end, and we were able to watch him grow and mature even still. The new one has a silver lining, but that ray of hope doesn't come until very late in the book.

Every death in the original that was due to illness or old age, is now due to drug ODs or coal mining.

Demon (Damon with a nickname), at this point in the remake, has the same relationships and a similar life story, but is addicted to oxy and struggling to survive.

In the original, David gets an education and takes a shine to writing, and starts on a better path by getting a job as a clerk. This happens 2/3rds through the book, there's still a lot of story after he finds modest success.

Both are about orphans who struggle with abandonment & marginalization. But damn if the remake doesn't seem a lot more bleak.

You have children??? I am always surprised when sciencey people have kids. Like, why would you take away time from all the cool science stuff you are doing?
