Not particularly interesting old lady with an opinion about everything. Definitely consider myself a contrarian.

But this report may understate inflation a bit.

Here's why: Usually the BLS collects prices all through November. But the shutdown kept it closed for the first half of November.

So more prices than usual were collected in the middle of "Black Friday" sales.

I am rereading Fault Lines as we speak! When I was a child, I bought the American exceptionalism myth hook line and sinker. When I was a teenager in the 70s I did not understand how much the country was changing. Your book opened my eyes. Thank you!!!

People don't remember what it was like before ACA, which is now 15 years old. If you were self employed your only option was to buy an individual policy. We had one that had a $10,000 deductible just to be able to get negotiated rates, but didn't cover pre-existing conditions or medication.

Kind of like using an average of an average of an average in statistical analysis. It's all mush.

This is absolutely spot on! Layers of truth, based on sources that are not equally reliable. Because the scraped data includes all the things, who decides? Just because it is said more, doesn't make it true. Overwhelmed with data but unable to decide how to make it meaningful. /1

LinkedIn has certainly changed from making connections and searching job postings to a bunch of corporate speak & advertising content for companies to be their own cheerleaders, sometimes deservedly so but maybe not. I'd like to see less Trump, more data pointing out misinformation and lies.

Not sure everyone understands what you mean when you say Chutiya but I think it fits Schumer perfectly.

Or, what they hoped to gain outweighed cutting off contact. Self serving.

The Crimson has some really good background on this and gives some insight into why Summers was complaining about the Crimson.
