It's so weird that the Trumps didn't congratulate the Haitians or Iranians for qualification

Most people will see this and have their hearts warmed. I read this and think that a 48-team world cup is ridiculous.

Ok, great. Can't wait to see you outside the climate-controlled press box with us plebes then.

During that infamous 2012 playoff game in which Thierry Henry and the Red Bulls obstinately refused too play DC United, I stood with the DC supporters as the snow piled up on our heads and shoulders. In October. If Don Garber had been there with us, none of this would be happening now.

In related news, I just shot myself in the stomach for no reason whatsoever.

Sorry, there is nowhere in the UK that has winters nearly as brutal as New York, let alone Montreal.
November 13, 2025 at 8:49 PM
I have a feeling they'll be teaching about this colossal own goal in sports management classes for decades.
November 13, 2025 at 8:47 PM
One week and it's dreadful.
November 13, 2025 at 8:46 PM
I'm format-ambivalent. It's never been fair or logical. The playoff structure is so bad now that it's kind of comical but nobody else seems to care so I won't lose sleep over it. But the calendar switch would be an existential catastrophe
November 13, 2025 at 3:01 PM
Any increase in transfers in/out due to alignment (which IMO is highly dubious anyway) will be thrown out the window when the level of play drops because the players are skating on ice and snow and the ball is as hard as a rock. Anybody who has tried to play pickup soccer in the winter knows this.

This is the stupidest thing that MLS, a league renowned for doing stupid things, has ever done.
November 13, 2025 at 1:58 PM
Every single team in the league except for Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, Vancouver, Houston, SD and LA would lose half of its season ticket holders overnight.
November 13, 2025 at 1:52 PM
Existential decisions are being made by people who have obviously never tried to kick a soccer ball in the winter.

And for what? When the standard of play falls off a cliff, transfers in & out will too. This is a catastrophe for fans of MLS.
November 13, 2025 at 12:56 PM
This ridiculousness will be every game when MLS switches to a winter schedule

My eyes are rolling so far back in my head I'm concerned they're going to get stuck back there

Unless they can get an ironclad promise that Trump will abide by whatever compromise Congress makes, Dems should never agree to reopen gov't. Trump wouldn't ever agree to that. And even if he did, why would anyone trust him to keep his promise?

I'd always just assumed. Messi too. And I'd bet money that Suarez has a Hitler tattoo somewhere.

If Penn is matriculating absolute dumbshits like Musk and Trump, then they should get relegated to the Liberty League where they can fight it out with the like of Bard College. Promote Vassar to the Ivy League and call it a day.

Where was VAR?

Carbuncular, dude

I want to like Minnesota fans, I really do. But "Wonderwall"? Show a little self respect.

A worthy winner. I'm surprised that Alex Freeman, who might have been my other choice, wasn't in the top three
