Tell me again what defines the U.S. as a “Christian” nation.
A new preprint in the Lancet estimates that 25 million people will die by 2040 without US aid.

There would be 70M more tuberculosis infections, 14M more orphans, and 50M unplanned pregnancies.

The EU or China must step in. The costs are small, it's a moral imperative.

Interstellar and Field of Dreams. No better movies about fatherhood.

A lesson from the “war on drugs”- killing a kingpin creates instability, as the lieutenants battle each other to take the crown.

UHC will get worse, not better, as the VPs compete to find new ways to screw us all.
United CEO Andrew Witty gave an address to the company today (leaked to me), telling employees "we guard against...unnecessary care" and that "There are very few people in the history of the U. S. healthcare industry who had a bigger positive effect on American healthcare than Brian [Thompson]."

I don’t understand all of the confident assertions that we are looking at a 4 year Trump term. You know he’s going to try and extend/run again right? Right?

In The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco, after hearing about a massive & deadly scapegoating, the narrator asks why the peasants didn't attack the landlords, their true enemies, & is told, "When your real enemies are too strong, you get weaker enemies," & every day I think about this & also see it

Hard agree. Make no mistake Trump was the means to an end, that end being the rapacious rent-seeking behavior of those who supported him, the country and it's citizens be damned.
Trump's immediate efforts to stock the government with MAGA types isn't just about loyalty.

It's also about creating the conditions for elite corruption to flourish beyond anyone's expectations. Right wing elites are going to loot the place from top to bottom:

Trump’s New Oligarchy Is About to Unleash Unimaginable Corruption
The elevation of Elon Musk to a key role suggests that right-wing elites are set to embark on a spree of sordid self-dealing.

Another thing about this picture: all of these men were born into fantastic wealth, worlds of privilege beyond even the comprehension of millionaires.

Except for Mike Johnson, hence denying him a seat at their table.
There are books to be written about the pathologies in this photo. Mr. Covenant Marriage beams with a sexual predator, serial adulterer, and weirdo breeder. Clean Food/Earth nut clutches a burger with Drill Baby Drillers. Nepo-baby failson. World’s richest man reduced to a truckling sycophant.
