Overall, extremely happy with the snow forecast. Most metro totals ended up 4-5”, but there was a stripe of 6” totals in the far south metro, and 5.5” in the east.

This week’s forecast with the fresh snow: Cold

1:30pm update:

-lighter snow north
-steadier snow moving into the south metro
-roads are slippery, but drivable
-I’m hype for a Badgers-Gophers snow game

3-5” forecast remains on track.

Once again: we will not get to 3-5” this morning, we will not get there this afternoon, but we will get there by the time you go to bed tonight.

Long. Light. Snow.

If you got something to do and you don’t like driving in snow, get it done sooner rather than later.

(the answer is along the Iowa border, not the Twin Cities)

Something something about posting through it…

The drive between Des Moines and Chicago is dreadful in pleasant weather. Add heavy snow, and it’s downright awful.

It will be a little better in the Twin Cities Saturday. Snowy roads and slow speeds, but you can get places.

How about a slice of snow forecast for dessert? It’ll be slippery Saturday afternoon and evening.

I would recommend NOT driving across southern Minnesota, Iowa, or western Wisconsin on Saturday.

Heads up if anyone is driving along I-35 between the cities and Duluth this afternoon.

Scattered snow squalls are possible, and they could cause brief blizzard conditions.

This one is along the Pine/Carlton County line.

Since I work tomorrow, we had our massive Thanksgiving meal tonight. The house looks like this. Life is good, you know?

She’s ultra cuddly this morning. Needed after days of snow forecast stress.
November 26, 2025 at 3:56 PM
3-5” north metro, 1-3” south metro

Took a bit longer to pile up, but it did. I’m satisfied with the forecast.
November 26, 2025 at 2:56 PM
That’s a helluva dry slot over southeast Minnesota. It’s slowing the change to snow in the metro, and will knock down the high end of totals.

Probably back to 2-3” tonight, plus the strong winds.

SPC highlighting most of central Minnesota for 1-2”/he snow rates Tuesday evening.

That’s where the *heaviest* snow will be. The Twin Cities will still see the rain to snow change.

1:30pm… Before the snow: Rain!
November 25, 2025 at 7:35 PM
Video forecast update: snow totals going up, timing and strong winds still the same.

Here’s an updated forecast for the snow Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

Slight changes to the totals, but the overall messages are the same

Here is a rundown of the pre-Thanksgiving snow across Minnesota. Driving could get tough up north Tuesday night into Wednesday.

In the Twin Cities: A little snow, a lot of wind.

This is probably one of the last likable things you’ll see me post for a bit.

There will be plenty of snow and cold posts for the next 10 days.

Some perspective on how dry we’ve been the last few months, and how—rain or snow—moisture is needed.

Last 6 months: not bad, a little dry up north

Last 60 days: much drier than normal

Last 30 days: much drier than normal
November 20, 2025 at 2:32 AM
On average (over the last 30 years) the first measurable snow in the Twin Cities is around November 5.

It's November 19, and we STILL don't have one this season. And with our forecast, we could have one of the 10 latest first snows on record.

Hard cut off on the slushy snow in the Twin Cities. There are some slippery stretches (blue lines, second pic) in the far south metro.
