Statement from Save VOA following mass termination of personal service contractors #SaveVOA

Following the mass termination of personal service contractors, VOA director @abramowitz.bsky.social said he finds "this action inexplicable, and to my knowledge no rationale has been provided by USAGM for this decision".

This is quite sad. I grew up listening to VOA and BBC on short wave radio. When bad stuff was happening in Bangladesh these two were the only sources of good information. We depended on the VOA. Sad to see what is happening to it. A lot of goodwill will die with the VOA.

On May 4, our Save VOA account on X was mistakenly flagged as “inauthentic,” but today we’ve regained access.
Save VOA are genuine accounts run by volunteers who want to #SaveVOA. And we need your support too! Please contact your reps and ask them to keep VOA alive!

Thank you Dan for saying what I've said for a long time..."Doggo" and "kiddos" Ugh. I have no idea why using those words bothers me the way it does but it absolutely does. As a parent, I hear parents call their kids kiddos all the time in various parenting groups and 👎🏻
