The Montreal Canadiens were tight in this one, for the most part, but when they weren't it was painfully obvious. Brian Wilde explains.

This is last game COTW but it is a good blueprint look at what they wanted to do tonight.

And did.
Lessons to learn for a young talented team on how to defend. There are very basic rules they’re not following listed here.

Also a look at how to build the perfect 12 forwards and how close the Canadiens are.

All in this Call Of The Wilde for Global Montreal.

Marco Marciano.

You see how trained Fowler was tonight?

It's time.

Look at the Isles. Darche has the guts and does it, and Sorokin has turned his season around.

And +3.15 is the final Goals Saved Above Expected

That’s a monster game.
NHL late change

36 of 38

Fowler debut

33 of 35 stopped.
.943
Goals Saved Above Expected +2.2

He was outstanding. It looked right. Calm. Well positioned. Ready for rebounds. Slowed the game down with stoppages.

21 years of age.

The goals allowed issue continues as the Canadiens fall hard to the Lightning.

Where’s most of this blame lie and what’s the way out of this?

Call of the Wilde: Bad defence, goaltending cost Canadiens with 6-1 loss to Tampa Bay - Montreal | Globalnews.ca

How much does goaltending matter?

The Canadiens are fourth worst in the league in goals allowed per 60.

Yet they are 12th best in the league in Expected Goals allowed per 60.

Watch this 6th goal closely... why is he moving the opposite direction of the puck?

Why the push off the wrong direction.

I am confounded by this. Completely confused by the logic of pushing off the wrong way.

A lot of Habs fans were surprised and even upset when Alexandre Texier was picked for the shootout.

He was a career 66% when he joined the team and tonight he showed everyone with his awesome shootout move.

Also, the Wilde Cards is an assessment on how the rebuild is full steam ahead.

This is why you accumulate draft picks. They give up two lower to get the guy they were eyeing.

Saw him on some lists first round.
Montreal Canadiens select Alexander Zharovsky.

Zharovsky has been another big riser this year, and for good reason. He put up excellent numbers in the MHL while being so dangerous on the rush. He’s crafty, smart and dangerous in open space. #NHLDraft

The Canadiens have loved Dobson and were targeting him for 2 seasons at least.

Right shot D. 25 years of age. 8 year commitment.

Habs with a very strong top 4 now.

Imagine him as a perfect partner for Hutson, though they can keep Lane right side.

Guhle-Hutson
Matheson-Dobson
Xhekaj-Carrier
Dobson to Montreal. 8 year 9.5 per. (That’s Friedman who has it. Weekes breaking it too)

That is a strong number. Great job by Kent to get this number. I predicted 10 plus.

Now let’s see the return.
