I don't think folks who never bothered to really go on TikTok understand what was really lost here, and why people are upset. Some of the most insightful longform commentaries on politics, history and science came from people who decided to share their content with the world there.

People need to stop acting like TikTok is a platform just for Gen Z. It’s massively popular across demographics in the U.S., with nearly half of Americans having an account. This is going to be highly disruptive for many people—both creators and consumers.

Still astounded how people think that the government force-closing a social network that's literally used by 170 million people in the US is just fine or even good.
It would not surprise me if they go after VPNs next.
