Hooker actually lays it out Scripture -> reason -> tradition. Though Urban T. Holmes, who spread the idea very much, put at least reason at the same level with Scripture, saying that it's a mistake to put Scripture over reason. Something Hooker did not believe. (cont) ⚓

The Anglican sorter has sorted me. I think this quiz is much less good though than the one @theodramatist.com made

Though I get the same result essentially either way (Laudian/Old High type)

The installation of the Cathedral of St John the Divine in NYCs new Dean had non-Christian prayers

This kind of nonsense being rampant is why I fret about being doomed

What can I do in the face of the utter apostasy of powerful people in my church?

Dear God, help us ⚓️

It’s dumb yes that so much culture war debate goes on about the branding of a chain restaurant, and so much is grifterism, but I’ll also say it’s unhelpful that so many progressives I know have taken the bait and fallen into the trap of saying “it’s good actually”.

Oh one more thing

I think Mr Ortlund mentions it in his video but I am reminded of in Narnia at the end of The Last Battle

Is a way I’ve come to think of such things

I go to a High side of broad cathedral.

You know, incense and such.

I am a Protestant. And get this? Protestants are Catholics. We are Western Catholic Christians.

Here, have some Wordsworth.

I don't know what liturgy is mostly used in Scottish Episcopal Churches, but the 1928 Scottish BCP includes the illusion to Article VI (as well as many other Protestant articulations of Scripture's sufficiency) in its Ordinal as well.

General Convention last year said both things. As official documents of ours often do. But also, I am not sure why you seem so angry about it? Why does it matter if sometimes I use this other acronym?

Very very true!

Take it also from a great gay Anglican/Episcopalian

See the (Reformed, Old High) view of Wordsworth for how I contextualise the Reformation and the Anglican embrace of Reformation:

As I’ve personally moved toward a more hopeful universalist theology, I find this quote of Julian of Norwiches, like so many of hers, speaks to me deeply (even as she isn’t necessarily being explicitly so, here)

On the plenteousness of Christ’s precious blood

A number of things I'm more or less fine with even if it's not my *absolute* preference.
