Rehearsal ham time. We wanted to test drive a new recipe for a festive ham, using the slow cooker.

Used the taming twins website as a guide, reducing the mixed spices in the apple juice cooking liquid, and using maple syrup instead of honey for the glaze and oven roast.

Caramelised fast! 🍽️🍜

The recipe is slightly adapted from 'The dairy book of British Food'

Yellow post it = quantity for the glass bowl in the picture

White note = some of the mincemeat filling above (or shop), plus more fruit to make it less sweet and more fruity. This is adapted from an old Waitrose Food recipe

It has begun - Christmas preparations have started with making our own homemade mince pie filling, known as 'mincemeat'.

This is almost industrial in size! We make a lot of jars for festive baking and gifts.

Shop bought mincemeat is often sickly sweet and sticky, this isn't.

The incessant rhythm of water on a rainy summer Saturday means we won't be venturing out. What to do?

Open the cupboard doors, see leftover oats and make flapjacks. Last time, I dotted the mixture with raisins (see photo)

This time I went for a variety. Photo coming later 🍽️🍜

Exactly.

In the last 20 years, this phenomenon has grown under the influence of a social media system that rewards high engagement (leading to notoriety or popular content theft), and a disinhibition effect that lulls people into feeling that their actions have no consequences.

That satisfying feeling of speaking at a conference and getting insightful questions, positive feedback, and —as a bonus—attendees quoting you from previous talks and blogs!

This morning, I talked about the power of prosocial moderation, shifting away from punitive models to something better.

This time, two great opportunities have come along at once: onboarding a new client AND speaking at All Things In Moderation

Because I made triple chocolate easter nests, and had leftover mix for a traybake

Coco pops breakfast cereal stirred into melted mars bars, butter and golden syrup (with a little cocoa powder) then spooned into cases and topped with sugar sprinkles and mini chocolate eggs.

What have I done...

I'll say this once: let people enjoy things. Even if you don't find them interesting.

That's it. On we go with life...

Bluesky search now has a menu prompting a user to select at least two interests including Art, Books, Culture, Sports, Tech, Pets and so on.

This seems to lead to suggestions of interesting accounts and starter packs based on those topics. Could potentially shape the 'discover' feed in future?
