Green Party Councillor for Clifton Down, Bristol. Comms specialist, writer, urban planning anorak. English cyclist envying the Dutch. Views own.
Bristol saw another anti-migrant protest yesterday, shamefully outside a hotel sheltering asylum seekers, including young children. But again counter protestors far outnumbered the far right, showing love & support for this vulnerable group. Hatred & racism will never win in our fair city.

Last night’s ‘Banned Books’ event
at Redland Library was brilliant. Fantastic line up of speakers & good debate. Took away a book list - thanks to Dr Emma Crowley @bristoluni.bsky.social for hers! Congrats & big thanks to @redlandlibevents.bsky.social. Looking forward to next one on 30th on Dracula!

Great turnout at #StopRosebank Bristol protest with @cclimateaction.sky.social @climatechoirs.bsky.social Rosebank is an undeveloped oil & gas field. Burning this would produce more CO2 than 28 poorest countries in a year. A climate disaster. Get your MP to act actionnetwork.org/letters/ask-...

Out #litterpicking in my ward this morning with brilliant volunteers. As usual, found some truly mystifying items - a pair of pants and an M&S unopened cocktail (why?!) But encouragingly this time, only one disposable vape. Can we dare to hope the ban is working? @bristolgreenparty.bsky.social

Liège-Guillemins in Belgium by Spanish architect Calatrava. Quite extraordinary. I love the old grand European stations and this is a wonderful modern interpretation, full of colour and light.

Please @darrenpjones.bsky.social sign this EDM. This is Etloe Road, Westbury Park #Bristol near the primary school. Pavement parking a daily occurrence forcing prams, small children, elderly with walkers and wheelchair users into this busy rat-run. So dangerous . @stephenwi11iams.bsky.social

The 14th annual
Cotham Hill Street Party today - a wonderful community free event with great music, delicious food and fabulous stalls. The party raises money for Oxfam and is run entirely by volunteers. It needs more volunteers, and fundraising, for next year.

Brilliant to see a lovely hangar in my ward. Lots of people live in flats & shared houses so this #cycle storage is invaluable. @bristolgreenparty.bsky.social

This the other day in Bristol on a busy road with a primary school. Sheer arrogance. What the flip do you need a ‘Defender’ for to go to the gym and Waitrose?
April 4, 2025 at 7:19 AM
#SUV Springwatch. Gosh, driving to Waitrose and the gym must be scary if you need a huge #Defender to get there. Parking tanks on the pavement puts others at risk, forcing pedestrians into the road. No SUVs in the city mumsforlungs.bsky.social @adfreecities.bsky.social @greenjennyjones.bsky.social

Very heartening and inspiring to hear brilliant speakers at #SUValliance manifesto launch at House of Lords. There’s growing evidence about SUV dangers and great work going on by councils and groups to tackle issue @mumsforlungs.bsky.social @adfreecities.bsky.social @greenjennyjones.bsky.social

Setting off to Westminster for the parliamentary launch of the #SUVAlliance and manifesto for safer, fairer streets. Very much needed as autobesity worsens. No one needs a tank to drive on our cities’ streets. @responsiblesci.bsky.social @robbryher.bsky.social @cllremmaedwards.bsky.social

Proud of my @cclimateaction.bsky.social friends - Dave Mitchell spoke eloquently at Gloucester Cathedral yesterday, urging the diocese and cathedral to switch banks away from high street banks that invest in fossil fuels. @cclimateaction.bsky.social organised a vigil and we then joined the service.
