He/Him
Serenais grew up as a commoner in Ishgard, so generaly, the expectations were that when she comes of age, she joins the military to fight the Dravanian horde and hopefully die of old age.
Her parents wanted "anything but that". Serenais ended up an aetherologist in Sharlayan and later, the WoL.

The closest TV/film/etc. character (and somewhat of an inspiration) to Serenais is Jadzia Dax from Star Trek: Deep Space 9. Both are action inclined lady scientists quite handy with an unusual bladed weapon that do not exactly conform to social standards for their job, role, gender and origin.

Khloe's Best Friend. It's not canon, I just find it cute that Khloe would call the WoL her best friend.
And there's plenty of perfect legends around (and nothing wrong with that). The world could use a bit more of the "small but wholesome". In my opinion, anyway.

Creepy crawlies, especially yarzons. Serenais can push that fear away when necessary, but... She'd like to share a piece of her mind with whoever on Elpis it was who came up with their concept.

(...) I assume that would put her somewhere in a few hundred thousand gil? Given how much mounts cost (and that Cid sold the GL-II at a serious discount, otherwise Serenais wouldn't be able to afford it).
November 19, 2025 at 11:35 PM
During her pre-WoL years, Serenais was teaching, theorycrafting and researching aetherology at the Studium. I imagine that means she'd be higher middle class in Sharlayan due to that. She also has a tendency to not spend (unless something she REALLY wants is for sale, like Garlond GL-II was). (...)

(...) the discipline. To say that she lived aetherology would not be an overstatement.
It ended only when she became the WoL, and science had to make way for saving the world.

(...) Through that, and by making the right, she caight the eye of visiting Sharlayan scholars, who helped her parents sneak Serenais out of Ishgard before she could be fielded as dragon fodder.
In Sharlayan, Serenais studied and later taught aetherology, and, along the way, revolutionised (...)

Serenais was always curious to a fault. As a child, she wanted to know what is beyond the Ablathia's Spine, why is the sea outside Eorzea called "Empty" when it's full of water...
Later, she found books on aetherology on Ishgard's library. Few and obsolete, they still ignited a passion. (...)

Serenais would likely be researching, theorycrafting and teaching aetherology at the Studium. That is what she did before she became the WoL, and she was quite happy doing so.

Not yet.
But if I can, I'd like to find a way to get a red mage job crystal (prefferably not functioning one).

Determined arrogant ignorance.
Double standards.
Cruelty.
Treating people as objects or statistics.
Archon loaf.
November 18, 2025 at 2:16 PM
Serenais taught aetherology on the Studium in her pre-WoL years, and she taught some RDM techniques to Alisaie, so... Somewhat, yes.
November 14, 2025 at 12:36 AM
Serenais grew up in Ishgard and spent her adult pre-WoL life in Sharlayan; she's well used to cold climates. Until Garlemald, snow was beautiful and fun, and the cold a suitable excuse for an extra serving of hot chocolate.
Not so much after...

Black.
Pretty much the only color Serenais wears.
November 8, 2025 at 6:31 PM
I am not sure.
I have a Star Trek glam for Serenais, and she'd fit in Starfleet (to a degree, anyway). Recently, I have also imagined her in the Dispatch universe, too.
It's probably more of a question what universe would be suitable, I suppose.

Serenais is "mostly" a red mage - she combines in PLD skills when it fits, especially if she can combine an aether-reflective shield with her focus.
It doesn't happen often, and it requires a lot more space than just sticking to RDM spells, but... When it works, it works wonders.

Seren(ais) of the Opera is there, inside your mind...

If we talk just about "annoy", and not more, it's willful ignorance. The claim that one knows best because they read a cover of a book once and nothing can persuade them otherwise, because that wouldn't fit their preferred narrative.
October 31, 2025 at 7:55 AM
I am notnsure Serenais would try to find one in the first place. In her reasoning, if the situation is bad enough that the WoL can't handle it, who else is there? Is it worth opening oneself to essentially a complete stranger just to get a "I am sorry, I am not sure how to help you"?

(...) but quiet. At that point, she finds words no longer useful and might decide to employ other means at her disposal.

(...) complicated terms (Serenais doesn't swear; she found it often has greater effect to be as prickly as possible while staying "diplomatic"), and through applied sarcasm, her "stoic mask" will start to get cracks.
Then there's worse than bad enough. In such a case, she'll be visibly angry, (...)
October 29, 2025 at 11:47 AM
Most of the time, it doesn't, really. Serenais keeps as much as she can under wraps; at most, she'd become even quieter than usual.
When it gets bad enough, Serenais conversely gets talkative, and in a somewhat abrasive way will start addressing the person who angered her, using long and (...)
