I joined Rep. Novak and the Black McDonald’s Operators Association to help distribute turkeys for Thanksgiving meals to families here in Michigan City. A huge thank you to local McDonald’s operator Sam Lubeznik for inviting us to take part in this incredible event.

Happy Organization Day!
Today marked the ceremonial start of the 2026 Legislative Session. I’m excited to be back at the Statehouse & ready to file bills that put everyday Hoosiers first. Hoosiers have been calling out for help, & it’s our responsibility to respond.

We are incredibly fortunate to have a NILEA academy right here at home, where our future officers are trained by seasoned, respected veteran officers from the Region. Their experience, mentorship and commitment help shape the next generation of public safety leaders.

I was proud to celebrate 59 outstanding recruits from Kokomo to East Chicago, Portage to South Bend, & everywhere in between. This is the Northern Indiana Law Enforcement Academy's largest class yet, and a powerful reminder of the strength and dedication found across our region.

The takeaway couldn’t be clearer: Hoosiers are united in saying no to redistricting this year.

Let’s keep up the pressure and make sure lawmakers do what’s right and say no mid-decade map changes. #INForAll

Thank you to everyone who attended my "Fair Maps or No Deal" town hall this past weekend.

The event was a huge success! Your energy, questions and commitment made it clear that Hoosiers are paying attention and care deeply about fairness and transparency in our democracy.

The oath we take is to serve Hoosiers & uphold the Constitution, not partisan interests.

Gov. Braun’s call for a special session to redraw maps mid-decade breaks that oath and erodes public trust.

Hoosiers deserve fairness, transparency & a democracy that honors every voice.

Exciting Update❗

I hope to see you all there!

JD Vance returned to Indiana to pressure Statehouse Republicans into rigging our state’s congressional maps to secure two seats. We’ve heard the “after-the-fact” manufactured faux justifications. But remember, Trump came out and said that quiet part out loud, “Go find me seats.”

2/2 They’ve witnessed firsthand how much public education has changed and bring a depth of perspective and wisdom that only lifelong educators can offer. A huge thank you to ISTA for welcoming me into your conversation! #INForAll

1/2 I always love talking with teachers, especially those who dedicated their entire careers to supporting generations of students. It was both a blast and an honor to have an open, honest discussion with the ISTA Retired Teachers about what’s happening in our state.

As of last week, the federal government has officially shut down, and one of the most visible local impacts is limited staff at IN Dunes National Park.
As your State Senator, I’m not part of the federal budget process, but I’m here to represent you & share how this affects SD 4.

With a full house, the question was posed asking who was opposed to redistricting this year, and everyone raised their hands.

Please keep speaking up & holding lawmakers accountable. Let’s continue the pressure to reject any mid-decade attempts to rig our congressional maps.

I joined my colleagues from NWI in raising concerns about the EPA’s recent proposed rollbacks in our region. IN has been ranked last in the nation for environmental quality for far too long. I will continue to advocate for strong protections for our environment and public health.

I had the honor of serving as an Indiana commissioner on the Midwest Interstate Passenger Rail Commission and was able to attend their annual conference in Kansas City. It was inspiring to see the investment other states are making in high-speed rail and public transportation.

Had the pleasure of visiting Opportunity Enterprises & seeing the incredible work they’re doing.

Despite shortsighted legislative cuts, their passion remains strong. I’ll keep fighting to fully fund programs like this so Hoosiers get the support they need. #INForAll

Attended Farm Bureau of LaPorte County’s annual meeting with keynote by Dr. Fred Whitford. Farmers shared struggles from tariffs and federal program cuts. Indiana is an ag state. When DC fails our farmers, we must step up at the state level. #INForAll
