Parametric insurance could reshape climate resilience. The market is projected to hit $29.3B by 2031, up from $11.7B in 2021. Payouts triggered by rainfall or wind speed mean faster recovery for ecosystems like reefs and mangroves—but cost and complexity remain hurdles.

Congratulations to Timor-Leste on becoming ASEAN’s 11th member. With coffee as its top non-oil export, this opens new doors for trade and investment. Seneca has worked across Southeast Asia on sustainable coffee and looks forward to future collaboration.

Nature finance is emerging. Sovereign bonds, blended finance, and ecosystem-linked insurance show promise, but scale and visibility remain challenges. Early-stage support is key. The field is young, and the opportunity is growing.

Farmers are frontline climate actors. But resilience needs capital.

@farmingfirst.bsky.social reminds us: sustainable agriculture must be investable through blended finance, risk tools, and market access.

We absolutely agree. Carbon credits aren’t the whole story. They are the icing on the cake (if at all). We focus on community-led revenue and businesses that benefit local people plus the many ecosystem services mangroves and other nature assets provide.

#Mangroves #NatureFinance
How viable is carbon trading for the mangrove business?

Carbon trading sparks debate—some see opportunity, others stress that climate adaptation and mangrove protection must come first.

Vietnam is aiming to scale seaweed and fast.

500K tons/year by 2030, 900K ha of coastline, and a national strategy to make seaweed a pillar of the blue economy.

Not a pilot. A pivot.

We’re flushing value. 330 km³ of wastewater is produced annually, yet nearly half goes untreated. With proper investment, it could irrigate farms, fuel energy, and generate revenue. Wastewater isn’t waste.

Cambodia is cultivating #Circularity & #FoodSecurity. In Phnom Penh & Siem Reap, black soldier fly farming turns food waste into feed—low-cost, high-impact, deeply local. A small but strategic movement with regional momentum.

Aid is shifting from implementation to influence. Bilateral deals rise, multilateralism fades. Geopolitical risk reshapes development finance. Blended finance could help, but access is uneven.

Groundwater depletion is a global crisis. While finance can’t refill aquifers, it can help reshape incentives—like paying for recharge, valuing water services, or co-financing nature-based solutions. We do finance, but this needs more than just money.

We agree. Lithium is vital, but not at the cost of ecosystems and communities. Seneca backs models that prove bankability AND integrity.
"We need lithium to power the renewable transition but the price of mega-water mining in the Andes is too high - for people and nature. Mining projects must use the most sustainable approaches & involve full consultation with local communities."
