Oh gracious! You’re right. I found the second fake, but it doesn’t seem to have posted anything. I guess if imitation is the sincerest form of flatter I should be complimented in some weird way?

Well, I guess my “mistake” was in not maintaining an active Instagram presence - which left a void for a fraudster. But I’m not blaming myself - just asking anyone who is on Instagram to report the fake, please. And warning them not to interact with it.

I remember hating asparagus as a little kid because I’d only ever eaten it canned! Mushrooms ditto. Discovering fresh asparagus and mushrooms as a teenager was a revelation.

My dad, as a young lawyer in the 1960s, had an amazing, terrifying, chain smoking legal secretary named Joyce who ran everything and without whom my father’s start up law firm would never have launched. She was a powerhouse. And paved the way for women who came after her.

Years ago, I worked with Dr. Wishart’s equally brilliant wife, Debby Waldman, when she wrote a humour column and book reviews for the Edmonton Journal. So it was a double thrill to be there today, to cheer on one of Edmonton’s scientific giants. Mazel tov to David and to the University of Alberta.
