Senator representing Yolo, Solano, Napa, Sonoma, Contra Costa & Sacramento counties. Prior: Mayor of West Sacramento; professor. Very prior: oboist, entrepreneur, wakeboarder, gamer, diplomat, comics nerd. 🏳️‍🌈🇵🇭 Comment policy: bit.ly/3EDe0tQ
Stoked that @cagovernornewsom.bsky.social signed SB79. It barely passed--not a single vote to spare in 3 committees or on Senate floor twice. I voted yes all 5 times, after working w/Sen. @scottwiener.bsky.social to focus it on urban places w/strong or emergent transit networks. Giant step forward.

Thank you to the hundreds of personnel working to contain the Pickett Fire near Calistoga. California’s investment in new, state of the art helicopters for CalFire has boosted Cal-Fire’s ability to attack fires in remote areas like this one.

Today I stood with colleagues from Congress, the state Senate and the Assembly to say California will fight back if Texas uses redistricting to prevent voters from showing their anger over kidnappings, cuts to health care, and tax cuts for billionaires but higher taxes (tariffs) on everyone else.

To Kevin Kiley:
The maps the public will vote on will cut the 14-hour commute from your Rocklin office to the rest of the district in Death Valley down to just 31 minutes for your successor. You’re welcome!

A tariff is just the same as a domestic sales tax. The money may be rolling in, but guess who’s paying…… #tariffs #jellybelly #budweiser #wine

No president has the authority to decide what the U.S. Constitution says. In our system of government, that authority clearly rests with the judiciary. #BirthrightCitizenship
