The term 'two spirit' was coined by an activist in the 90s. The indigenous term in hundreds of native languages roughly translates to "wanting to be like a woman", "man living as a woman" etc. There was no confusion about whether a man actually became a woman.

I'm genuinely concerned that right-wing, fascist-leaning parties throughout the West are gaining traction. And I sincerely believe the mishandling of this issue ('accept our maximalist position or be cancelled/fired' etc) has helped them to some extent because it alienated a lot of voters.

10 years ago a lot more people were against bathroom bills etc. The 'no-debate' approach and extreme stances of activists have lowered approval of all things gender.

It's true, Republicans have been very successful at disenfranchising Democratic party voters. But that's in no small part because the Dem establishment has been incredibly weak about countering it. Biden could have twisted arms a lot harder to get the voting rights bill passed.

The Democrats lost to the least popular presidential candidate in history...twice.
They shivved the real populist, fielded terrible candidates that Wall Street loved, but who came across as fake and elitist, and they lost to the fake populist.

'Trans women' are male, and also rape women. Cases of female people sexually assaulting other women are vanishingly rare to nonexistent. You can't honestly equate the risk to females with the risk to males.

That is possible, and it is something we should all try to prevent. But it's not fair to ask all women (50% of the population) to accept greater risk of violence for the sake of a tiny group of people.

Well with self-ID laws, there's no difference. Anyone, pervert or just deluded, can get a certificate saying they're the opposite sex and barge into the women's changing room. I didn't make it that way. Trans activists did.

That's a lot to ask when you consider @susan's comment above, which you brushed off. There are people under the 'trans' umbrella who are just classic dirty old men, not shiny pretty enby types. Women shouldn't have to accept them in our private spaces. No deal.
