Mom, teacher, union leader, and now Assemblywoman for District 25. Working every day for a brighter Nevada for all of us.
It's been a hell of a week, but I am proud of this movement.

Finally, I want to be clear that as a union member I deeply believe in the need for strong union jobs and am fully committed to future projects which bring those jobs AND provide community services like light rail, new schools, and critical infrastructure.

I also want to thank my colleagues for listening to the community, for digging in on the hard conversations, and for fighting for their constituents.

I first want to thank the community members who drove to the legislative buildings in Carson and LV, who called in to testify in the Senate (where the phones were open), and who called and emailed our offices. Your voices matter and they made a difference.

Thank you Olivia Tanager for speaking on behalf of the countless people who cannot travel to Carson City in the middle of a work day and who have been shut out of this special session as a result.

Why a democratic legislature is even considering such an anti-worker bill is beyond me. Yet another example of the Special Interests Session at work.

Working people who are going to suffer as schools are defunded, services are cut, and public workers are fired. That is why I stood in fierce opposition to this bill and always will.

I will not vote for any version of this bill that does not provide basic protections for the people of my community who are suffering.

The ACLU of Nevada has proposed common sense amendments which would protect our communities by requiring law enforcement to investigate all calls of masked individuals detaining people, and requiring legislative approval for the expansion of civil detention facilities.

I will never stop fighting to make sure the working people of Nevada have a voice in the legislature. This motion to reject the film bill was part of that fight, but rest assured it is not the end!
Reno assemblywoman objects to film tax bill, exposes strong opposition
A Nevada Assembly floor session was shut down for nearly 90 minutes to counter an objection by Assemblywoman Selena La Rue Hatch to a film tax bill.
